The Ultimate Everything Shower Routine: 12 Steps to Feel Completely Renewed

Picture this: It's 8:30pm. Your house is quiet and clean-- the kitchen is spotless, candles are lit, and your pet is peacefully asleep in its bed. I don't know about you but that spells "bliss" to me.

What would make that evening sweeter would be to indulge in an “everything shower” and lately that has been one of my favorite pass times on an otherwise uneventful evening.

For those of you who don’t know, an everything shower  is exactly what is sounds like it is. It is a shower where you get everything done: wash your hair, shave your body, pedicure, body deep clean, etc. It’s such a treat and I wanted to show you how I do mine and share some of my favorite products. I’ll include this in steps on how I go through my everything shower.

Step 1: Brush My Teeth— whether you use a standard toothbrush or an electric toothbrush, spend the full two minutes gently.brushing your teeth, roof of your mouth, and tongue.

Step 2: Dry Brush— one of my favorite steps is to dry brush. I love to brush my skin in a circle to really rid my body of any dead skin that has accumulated over the last week or so.

Step 3: Wash my face— Nowadays I only use the Neutrogena (link) gentle cleanser to wash my face, it leaves my face feeling clean without feeling stripped.

Step 4: Wash My Body with exfoliating gloves— I only wash with exfoliating gloves of the Ghanian Sapor bathing net. Not only does it keep my skin feeling very clean, especially as someone who works out quite often, but it keeps my skin very soft and supple. I’ve been using exfoliating glove for 10+ years now and I'm always complimented on how soft my skin is.

Step 5: Shave time— Shave your legs and arms and anywhere else if needed. I use the Billie shaving cream and it leaves my skin feeling SO soft and smooth, it makes me wish I had someone to rub my legs all over, haha.

Step 6: Quick wash— After the previous step, I tend to quickly wash my body again to soften my skin after shaving and get rid of any excess hair. This also helps me avoid any ingrown hair, but this step isn’t mandatory, it’s just an extra step I like to take .

Step 7: Pedicure— If my whole body is going to be smooth, then so are my feet. I like to do a express pedicure with a foot file and pumice pad. I usually go in with the pumice pad on both feet, then with the foot file to smooth any rough spots, then I go back in with the pumice pad to file all over my feet.

Step 8: Part 1 of my 3 step body moisturizing— Immediately after my shower, typically when I’m still in the shower I’ll go in with my shea and cocoa butter mixture all over my body.

Step 9: Skin care: After the moisturizing, I go in with my skin care, I typically use with hazel to tone my skin, then with The Ordinary Hylarounic Acid serum, then CeraVe Retinol, The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizer then I end it off with rosewater spray. If I’m having a breakout, I like to put pure tea tree oil on a Q-tip and touch up my pimples to reduce the inflammation.

Step 10: Part 2 & 3 of my body moisturizing— once I’m done with my skin care, I go back into my body care with Bio Oil and Eucerin lotion. I use the Bio Oil to tackle any stretch marks or lackluster areas and I use the Eucerin on my hands.

Step 11: Slugging: I put Vaseline on my lips, under my eyes, and on my eyelashes. Weird, I know, haha.

Step 12: Moisturizing socks and teeth whitening— The final step in my everything shower routine. To maintain the softness of my feet, I slather Aquaphor all over my feet and put comfy socks on, so I’ll wake up with Barbie feet. Lastly, I’ll put on a YouTube video or a show and whiten my teeth for 30 minutes.

Don’t be intimidated by how many steps there are, instead indulge in the pleasure of taking care of yourself and your body. Tip: I don’t like to wash my hair on my everything shower days because then it takes very long, so I tend to wash my hair a day or 2 earlier or even the following week.
