Romanticize Your Career: 4 Tips to Embrace Your New Job With Main Character Energy

So you’ve started that new career. Maybe you’re fresh out of college or maybe you have been in the workforce for 10+ years and need a change. Starting a new career or switching to a new (and better) role within your current one is exciting! Change is good, but change can also be a little scary— especially if you are starting over in a completely new career path (maybe you were a graphic designer and all of a sudden you are a lead UX Designer— either way congrats!)

It is important to breathe, embrace change, and most importantly romanticize your new career. In 2023, we are all trying to embrace a more delulu way of living and why not apply it to your career? In this article, I will be sharing some tips on how to be more delusional and romanticize your new career… so you can inevitably get what you want.

Tip 1: Look The Part

Deion Sanders was onto something when he said, “If you look good you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.” In my opinion, half of the excitement of starting a new job is buying a few new staple items that make you feel confident and capable. So, don't be afraid to look the part— if you want to project as someone who can get the job done, then put on a fit that makes you feel that way. There are affordable brands out there that will help you create that main character energy you need to reach your goals.

Tip 2: Become The Main Character

Do things before work that’ll get you in the energy of “the main character.” Maybe you like to wake up for an early workout to shift yourself into that main character energy or it’s grabbing your favorite iced latte before heading into the office. It could even be that perfect playlist that gets you in the zone. Try out all kinds of things to help shift yourself into that main character energy.

Tip 3: Know That You Deserve It

If you have huge goals or seemingly unreachable financial goals you’d like to hit at your job, understand that you are already deserving of reaching your goals. Of course you can’t skimp out on hard work but start to cultivate a mindset that you are capable and worthy of all the things that you desire. Money is energetic, we all need it. Get yourself aligned with it (money and your career goals) and amazing things will happen. Once you can honestly accept that you DESERVE whatever you desire, it will be on its way toward you.

Tip 4: Work Smarter Not Harder.

Try to relax. Unless you are dealing with other peoples’ lives, money or overall happiness, try to be more gentle on yourself. I know when I start a new project, I am really strict and crazy on myself about doing things a certain way or getting up EXACTLY at 6:30am and checking things off from my morning routine to the tee. No. Accept that you are human and that sometimes things change and shift in the midst of you embracing on a new journey. Please don't beat yourself up about not waking up at exactly 6:30am, instead give yourself a range, wake up between 6:30am and 7am. Eventually your body will get used to it and you’ll be hitting that 6:30 mark with ease. Choose the path of least resistance! At Rheaa, we are all about working smarter not harder, you know that.

My last tip would be to have fun! We have such a short time on this planet, don’t be too hard on yourself. Schedule in dinners with you friends and family, go to concerts, and don’t forget to live your life in the meantime.
