How To Sleep In Summer Heat Without AC
As the years go by, summer has been growing increasingly intense. Thunder sounds like explosions in the sky, and rain is more torrential than I remember.
With temperatures on the rise all around the globe, the quest for innovative methods to stay cool and combat "heat insomnia" is on everyone's mind. From one hot girl to another, here are my 8 methods on how to sleep in hot weather without an AC.
Try a Warm Shower: It might sound counterintuitive, but hear me out. Warming your body up will actually prompt it to cool down naturally. So, consider taking a warm (not hot) shower to help provide some relief.
Invest in a Fan: Place it by the window or opt for a standing fan to help you cool down. Personally, I rely on my Lasko fan, which oscillates and offers 4 different cooling speeds to combat soaring temperatures at night.
Choose Light Fabrics: When it comes to sleeping in hot weather without an AC, breathable fabrics are the way to go. Opt for materials like cotton, linen, bamboo, and silk.
Go Commando: Embrace the idea of sleeping naked.
Block it Out: Consider using blackout curtains. The most effective approach to sleeping in hot weather without an AC is to prevent heat from entering your room in the first place. Utilize blackout blinds or curtains to shield your space from both heat and sunlight.
Let the Breeze In: Open your windows! Allow fresh air to flow into your room during the night; the nighttime wind is typically cooler. Just ensure that you're keeping insects and other unwanted elements out.
Get (Slightly) Wet: Although I've never personally tried this, you could soak your bed sheets in cold water just before bedtime. Keep in mind, though, that this might get a bit messy, so make sure to wring out as much water as possible from your sheets before settling in for the night.
Opt for Thinner Sheets: Choose thinner, yet breathable bed sheets. During the summer, consider skipping the duvet and opting for a thin, breathable fabric like those we discussed in tip 3.
Summer nights are meant to be enjoyable, fun, and even a little sexy. I sincerely hope that these 8 tips will help you relish your summer nights just as much as your summer days.
